FINAL DESIGN STUDY FOR THE CHEKA BRIDGE

General Description

The project corresponds to the study and final design of the Cheka Bridge, located in the Chulumani – Irupana – Sacambaya road section, in the Yungas region of the La Paz department. The objective of the study was to define the technical and constructive characteristics necessary for the future execution of a 70-meter-long bridge, considering the geological, topographic, and hydrological conditions of the sector. Characteristics of the Area: Mountainous topography zone with irregular terrain and steep slopes. Tropical climate region, with a regime of intense rainfall and streams with torrential behavior. Complex geological conditions, with the presence of unstable soils and rocky outcrops at variable depth. For the formulation of the final design of the bridge, the following specialized studies were carried out: Topography, Geology, Geotechnics, (including diamond drilling to an approximate depth of 15 meters, with the objective of reaching healthy rock for the foundation of the bridge), Hydrology, Hydraulics. These studies allowed determining the conditions of the terrain, structural stability, hydrological regime, and scour levels, fundamental factors for defining the structural typology and foundation criteria of the bridge.
